Up to then I'd found Hall's work ...I liked <I>Without</I>. Up to then I'd found Hall's work dull dull dull. He was the epitome for me of the contemporary poet who has nothing to say and says it in the most nothing way. (I like my nothings dancing, thanx.) With <I>Without</I> Hall finally had something to say. But feel free to put off reading it for another twenty years. Hall's children's picture book, <I>The Oxcart Man</I>, is pleasant.
